Academic support helps students learn strategies for core skills, such as, reading and writing, to help strengthen overall  academic performance.  For example, by applying reading, writing and/or executive functioning skills towards subjects, such as Social Studies, Science, and English, students will be better prepared to comprehend, process, analyze, and retain what they have read and will also be able to demonstrate stronger writing skills.  

Reading Intervention services targeting early readers also available.  

• Decoding, Phonological Awareness, and Fluency (Orton-Gillingham Method)
• Reading comprehension
• Active reading strategies to help break down information, process, analyze, and retain what is being read
• Critical thinking skills 

• Understand the process of writing (brainstorm, plan, outline, edit)
• Improve word choice, vocabulary and elaboration during writing tasks
• Written organization (topic sentence and supporting details) 
• Essay and research paper writing
• Editing
• Understand the importance of using supporting evidence 

• Math: Learn strategies to break down word problems into steps and identify details to avoid careless errors
• Social Studies/Science/English:  Learn active reading  strategies  and note taking skills to improve the comprehension and retention of challenging content, homework help, study strategies for tests and quizzes, help with long term assignments (and whatever else is needed)
